| | Is dating military guys a good idea? | | I have been dating a guy in the navy for a few months and before this i dated a guy in the army for two years and he got sent to iraq which just about killed me. Things are going ok with the navy guy but he has had his heart broken and know he is telling me he is getting worried because things are getting seriuos with us, i told him i would give him some time to think but i'm not sure i did the right thing. | Would you allow your children to join the army. | | A recent(ish) subject matter on Coronation Street and Eastenders!!! Would you allow your son or daughter to join the army and risk been sent to Afghanistan? Personally I would allow them to do as they pleased, but i wouldn't "like" it, and would try to disuade them into going. Yes we need strong people to fight in the army, and without them we would be left with nothing, but during this world now as it is, with the was in Afghasinstan and young "cannon fodder" been sent out there with not enough equipment, would you be happy to have your children join up? | |
| | Why do employers overlook EMTs, police, and army veterans when hiring?? | | I'm an emt who works for a private company for $12 an hour, all I want is a 2nd job (in customer service) paying about the same thing and it doesn't have to be in the health field, put me behind a desk or something, doorman, I don't care.But I guess its ok for employers to OVERLOOK us EMTs and army veterans after all the hard work we do and the risks we take, just so they can hire some moron with a bachelors or something. Whoopie doo!!! I'm applying for a friggin customer service job, I have 8 years exp of customer service, 2 of which I've been an EMT. All those years should qualify me for any damn customer service job.ON TOP of that, EMS is a very HIGH level of customer service because we are SAVING LIVES and TREATING PATIENTS. That's much more personal than helping someone get a different shirt size or giving someone their change.One time I applied for a cust servce rep position that paid $39,000 per year. Now this interviewer knew about all the experience I had in customer service. YET the position goes to someone else. I give it 3/5 stars. The acting was pretty amazing, and the special effects were great, but the script wasn't very impressive. If you liked the first Hellboy, this one is worth checking out for an evening of pretty mindless mayhem.

| | Salvation Army - good or bad. | | My late husband was in the military and spent time in Korea where he said the Red Cross always got credit for being on the frontline handing out coffee etc to the troops. He said what it did not saay was that they expected a donation for what you got. The same thing happened in a military hospital he was in and a VA hospital too. He said the Red Cross wanted a donation but not the Salvatio0n Army. At Christmas time we always carried a pocket full of change to put in any Salvation Army collectio0n bucket and our children were taught to do the same. It will not be done any more. A friend who has very serious health problems and has to be on an oxygen concentrator whenever she ays down has been very ill. This person has Crohns, acute diabetes, chronic asthma and serious heart problems. Because of her low income etc. her electric bill added up. The company she has is terrible amnd they were threatening to shut off her lights even thoug her Dr. sent a letter telling them this should not be done because without electricity it could create seri0ous and even dangerous health problems. The office manager paid no attention. She called the Salvation Army nearest to her home in Illinois.... | |
