| The origin of Super Mario | | Wanna know how Nintendo's Mario got his name?
Regarding Mario’s origins, it’s common knowledge among game fans that legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto created him for 1981′s Donkey Kong arcade game. But few know that Nintendo borrowed Mario’s name and Italian heritage from a real man.I knew this, but there's more to the story...That man’s name is Mario Segale, and he’s not a plumber. He’s a wealthy real estate developer in Tukwila, Washington. Segale unwittingly stepped into video game history by renting out a warehouse that served as Nintendo’s U.S. headquarters in the early 1980s. At that time, a financially struggling Nintendo of America (NOA) was preparing the U.S. launch of Donkey Kong. Legend has it that NOA President Minoru Arakawa noticed physical similarities between Donkey Kong’s short, dark-haired protagonist and the landlord. So the crew at NOA nicknamed the character Mario, and it stuck.

I guess the obsession with getting coins make more sense now. I still don't fully understand the magic mushrooms though.I feel like playing Super Mario Bros. 3 for some odd reason.Oh, does this mean Wario is supposed to be a slum lord or something? I should probably play through the Wario Land series again, just to see if I can find hints and... | |

| Super Mario Brothers Ending | | Super Mario Brothers is a very old game and I'm still wondering until now that "IS THERE AND ENDING TO THIS GAME?" I played it in the family computer and I finished level 8 then died somewhere at level 9, I get this far using the secret shorcuts. Does this game really have an ending? Does Mario really gonna save the princess and not the mushrooms that replace her at every castle? | |

| | Super Mario for Wii! Is anyone else ADDICTED?! | | I absolutely LOVE the new(ish) Mario game for Nintendo Wii. It's so fun. Me & my sister (who owns the Wii & the game) literally spend hours upon hours playing this. It is so addictive. And the levels are super hard! I was up to 27 game overs by the time we reached the 6th world. lol. Anyway, one of the reasons I love the game is because it's really true to the original!Anyway, do any of you ever play this game? What are YOUR feelings about it? | |

| New Super Mario Brothers....... | | Okay so as most gamers out there know, Wii came out with a new Super Mario Brothers game. My husband and I couldn't resist and went out and bought it. I have to say that it is all I thought it would be and more. The story is basically kept in theme, the characters are great and the game play is amazing. I love the graphics and the game controlls are really easy to use. I think that over all this is a great game to play with the whole family. I have 2 daughters one 3 years old and the other 4 and they both love to play with my husband and I. Have you played this game yet? What did you think? Do you have a game that is your favorite? What is it? Why? What other Mario games have you played? Which was your favorite? Why? | |
| | New Super Mario for Wii | | Well, it's official. I am a Super Mario Wii Tart (I did not mean to offend anyone with that comment, it's just a joke). This new game is so cool! I can't get enough of it. I like that it has many features of the classic Mario games, such as secret tunnels, turtles, and the power ups. The coolest new feature has to be that you can shake the Wii remote and trigger certain actions, such as a pound jump or flying. I got the game 2 days ago and have been playing it on my free time. So far, I am on World 3. The one thing I do not like about the game is that you need to be at the Castle on each world in order to save without having to start the whole world over again...kind of a bummer when it's 11:30pm and you have to go to bed for work in the morning and you lose the whole thing you just played:(So, has anyone else played this yet, and what do you think? What is your favorite part of the game? How far along are you? Do you enjoy the multi player mode? | |
